 This is a lovely book, and it's much bigger than I thought it would be! A great story and beautifully illustrated, I loved all the drawings and colours, it's very engaging for young readers.

A great book, I'm going to give this to my niece for Christmas and I know she'll love it. Great price for the quality and a lovely gift :)

This is really a wonderful story, very easy to read bar a few "tricky" words (extinct) and doesn't take too long to get through, making it a perfect bed time book.

The story follows a small child who keeps telling people they saw a mammoth doing various strange things, but no one believes them. Borrowing intertextually from older stories which follow a "boy who cried wolf" storyline. It plays well into children's arguments that parents don't believe them, and turns it into a fun tale. The repetition of the word "mammoth" makes the story memorable, and engages children further because they can join in shouting the word. Very clever creative tactic from the writer!

The imagery is fun and engaging, it couples well with the short sentences and easy to follow content. Kids will love the bright colours and fun pictures, you can add to the story by asking them questions about what they see in the pictures and what the various animals are doing. This would also extend read time, which is actually short if you only read the written story.

Price, £6.55 for the paperback, is really reasonable. I plan to place this inside my sons christmas eve box, as it will definitely make a perfect xmas eve story! I would of happily paid the price listed and often do pay around that price for my sons books.

Overall I absolutely would recommend this book, it's wonderful, engaging and from a parents perspective very nice to read.

My 3 year old likes this book, it has been one of her 4 books she goes to each night so I’ve read it quite a few times. It’s the tale of a kid who keeps seeing a Mammoth doing various things but no one believes him. It’s amusing and a nice read at bedtime, not the most fluid off the tongue reads for me, not my favourite by any means, but it’s a winner for my daughter. The illustrations and style remind me of the Calvin and Hobbs comics if anyone out there remembers them.

Nice book and my 3 year old certainly enjoys it.

I didnt warm to this story, the main character simply seemed annoying, demanding and petulant.
Preferring rhyming books like Julia Donaldson.

However the actual substance of the book itself was below par because it was delivered with two significant creases baked right in to the back cover of the book, they were just flapping around like a broken arms ready to tear off and so I couldn't recommend giving this as a gift as if that was the intention of the one I received I'd have been too embarrassed as it looked second hand from the condition of the cover (it wasn't).
