This is the only book that tells you how to structure your answer and for that reason only, this book is a life saver. Other books (I have all) only tell you the material and not how to use them in the answer). So, this book is a godsend. One review seems to have an issue with some questions. Well, the book is written for all the specialities and decisions like DNA CPR are bread and butter of some specialities (Oncology, critical care etc). This book is very well balanced with different specialities. I do feel some questions were slightly more exemplified with diabetes-related examples. I don’t see this as a problem. I used these examples as a framework and one get an idea suited for my area e.g. stoma/transplant nurse etc. The book is an updated book. The NHS is changing faster than a mile a minute clematis can grow so there would always be some areas that crop up n the horizon.

I don’t usually write reviews but after reading a couple of reviews, I think I must write one to ensure others do not get a biased opinion. This book is the best book on such a complex process. Minor typos and a few grammatical errors that I would suggest should get corrected

There isn't much good about this book. Poorly written with incorrect words often being used (e.g. 'Use humour judicially" instead of judiciously), which is unforgivable given that this is a book on how to communicate effectively! Other examples: "How to do cope with stress" instead of "How do you cope with stress?", "Should doctors that are managers, stop doing clinical work" instead of "Should doctors who are managers stop doing clinical work" (showing lack of attention to both grammar and punctuation), etc. Every page is filled with incomprehensible mumbo jumbo.

You will find also that the questions they say may come up at interview probably won't (since when have people been asked at consultant interviews what a DNA CPR is? I mean, come on, this is ST1 level at best!).

Many questions are basically taken from their medical school interview book and just rehashed, with a very poor result. Oh and don't be fooled by the testimonial from Dr Matthew David on the back cover. A quick search of the GMC register will show you that he does not exist.

To top it all, most of the examples given are from the diabetes field since one of the authors is an endocrinologist/diabetes consultant, the NHS issues section is way out of date (we stopped talking about EWTD and Shipman years ago), and the whole book is said to have been edited by someone who is basically an F2.

So there you have it, don't waste your money on this product!
