Product description

British comedy in which a rookie music manager attempts to find success without losing sight of what's really important. Dixie (Jonny Owen) is a South Wales postman who is crazy about music. After discovering a band called The Premature Congratulations on YouTube he tracks them down and proposes that he become their manager. With the support of his partner Michelle (Vicky McClure), Dixie works tirelessly, promoting the band and organising gigs for no pay, but as they start finding success, The Premature Congratulations only become more arrogant and there is a good possibility they will drop their manager. Will Dixie stay in the music business or go back to simply enjoying music as a fan? The cast also includes Martin Freeman, Matt Berry and Michael Smiley.

Der Film ist nicht schlecht, aber ganz bestimmt kein Meisterwerk. Dafür gibt die Story nicht genug her. Zum einmal ansehen auf einem Videoabend ganz okay, aber mehr auch nicht.

Svengali tells the story of Dixie (Jonny Owen), a postman from South Wales, and a music fanatic. All his life he's dreamed of discovering a great band and then one day, trawling through YouTube, he finds them... 'The Premature Congratulations'. He hunts them down and offers them his management services. They are young, arrogant, sexy and utterly magnificent. Putting their demo on a cassette tape, Dixie heads out onto the streets of London... Innocent, wide-eyed Dixie embarks on a roller coaster ride through the most infamous industry of them all. His partner and his sanity through it all is his soulmate Michelle (Vicky McClure). Every day is a battle for Dixie, totally broke and working for nothing to get his beloved band gigs, their egos grow with their stardom. The more successful The Prems get, the greater the chances are of Dixie losing them. He has to decide what are his real priorities in life... his love of music or his love for Michelle.

A great film with an excellent cast and brilliant soundtrack.

I followed the pre-release info on this film and couldn't wait to see it. I wasn't disappointed. Set in a sunny London, with Jonny Owen & Vicky McClure the adorable, funny couple. The cast are superb, the soundtrack outstanding, and its an easy to watch, feel good film. Vicky McClure is a natural in a comedy role, and Jonny's passion and enthusiasm is contagious. Up there with the best of British cinema!! Cameo's from Alan McGee, Carl Barat to name a few. If you like music, and you like all things British, this is for you.

boring pile of cack . 1 star for the music as the acting and storyline are absolutely rubbish. this is my review so if u liked the film don't hate me this is only my opinion
