I was reluctant to purchase another book by Neil McDonald after having seen a copy of his \"Chess: the Art of Logical Thinking\" where his first comments on 1.

Great book
Its a very good book, I especially liked the coverage of the anti dutch lines, the Dutch is very versatile and cuts down your learning time.

Starting Out: The Dutch Defence Pro's and Con's
The book gives a solid background to the four central directions the opening can take: Anti-Dutch; Stonewall, Classical, Leningrad.

Fun with the Dutch
Nothing can bias a reviewer faster then a couple of solid wins with Black after finishing this book.

It's OK to begin with the Dutch defence
In a very few pages the book teach the most general ideas of the Stonewall, Classical and Leningrad Dutch defence.

somewhat eccentric but fun!
I've been curious about this opening for some time and knew that anything from the Starting Out series would be a comfortable place to start.
