fine recording, with Cappuccilli outstanding . . . but Gardelli and Muti have that extra something . . .

Sinopoli's "Nabucco" has the bad luck to have been preceded by two great accounts -- Gardelli's, with Gobbi and Souliotis from 1965, and Muti's with Manuguerra and Scotto from 1978.

very good performance of one of Verdi's weaker operas

Nabucco is certainly one of Verdi's weaker operas, in spite of all Italians' love for "Va Pensiero.
